Reviews about ROYAL HIGHLAND HOTEL
- 3 / 5By Andrew LisickiThe room (118) suitable for use by a wheelchair user was taken for the night. The room was spaceous enough, as was the bathroom/toilet. A wheeled shower chair was thoughtfully provided. The dinner, taken in the evening, seafood risotto - duck breast - pudding, was tasty and well presented. There was a fine range of malt whiskies to enhance one's stay. Breakfast had a vast choice of hot and cold foods but the room (not the dinner room) was rather soulless and huge, which is ok if you don't want to sit near anybody. The best bit was the view from the bedroom window; straight out onto the station platform; and of course the proximity (obvious really) to the station is a bonus. The staff were pleasant and efficient. So why three stars? The shower offered only scalding hot water. Every permutation of knob twiddling was tried with no success: boiling water or nothing. Not only was this a waste of my time but very dangerous, particularly for someone with mobility difficulties. To be fair, they did not charge for the room but I would rather have the assurance of a well maintained, safe, comfortable hotel.January 26, 2017
- 3 / 5By Chris TerreyThe hotel is ideally situated, adjacent to the train and bus stations and a large shopping mall. My second-floor room at the rear of the building was clean and tastefully decorated, and the en suite bathroom was great. However ... the wardrobe was tiny, with only 4 clothes hangers, and as most of the space was already occupied by an ironing board, iron and trouser press, there was very little actual 'hanging' space. The bed was extremely comfortable and I had a good night's sleep. But I was awakened VERY early the next morning by the alarming crashing of an enormous quantity of glass below my window .. it sounded like a glass avalanche, and it was repeated several times. I should have stipulated a quiet room when booking! The buffet-style breakfast was good with an excellent range of hot and cold items. Lunch-time and evening meals were also good, but beware, because the portions are generous. The staff were welcoming and helpful.December 02, 2016
- 4 / 5By Tulach Ard House Claire MackenzieWe arrange to meet family and friends here as central to Railway and Bus Station. Taxi Rank and town centre. Hotel reception has Lounge table and chairs; Cafe and Bar.
Booking accommodation we do when family come to town; main reason being Location, Location, Location. Rooms are large, clean well presented. Breakfast Buffet is help yourself. Tea and coffee machines rather than Cafetieres or table service.August 28, 2016 - 4 / 5By Curtis MacdonaldThis was our first visit to Scotland. One of the things we enjoyed the most was soaking in the history. Our stay at the Royal Highland Hotel was very enjoyable. The staff, service, room and dining were top notch. We look forward to visiting once again.August 28, 2016
